Description
antique original World War Two United States military issue M 1 .30 cal carbine Magazine pouch RARE WWII “ STOCK “ pouch excellent condition these pouches had a belt loop wide enough to slip over the but stock of the M1 Insuring that the solider had two extra magazines readily available at all times the US markings on the flap are a little faint - I believe they were simply stamped lightly this pouch has had THREE different sets of GIs serial numbers stamped on it - there is a chance you can research the numbers and figure out to whom this was issued - ( likely one or two were wounded and their gear was reissued ) the makers mark is unreadable, due to the fact it was over stamped by one of the serial number stamps - see the photos A decent looking .30 carbine STOCK pouch these were discontinued mid war , some paper pushing , behind the lines ‘brass‘ determined that attaching a magazine pouch to the butt of a carbine was un soldierly ! and the practice was frowned upon ( although photographic evidence proves the practice was commonplace among front line GIs throughout the war ) don’t pass it up ! a must have for all WWII collectors and history buffs
